It never ceases to amaze me how our bodies know what they need.
Saturday was yet another opportunity for me to witness this in a dramatic fashion. It was a healing crisis kind of a day. Healing? Yes; moving toward balance. Crisis in that it means you feel horrible. Tick borne pathogens like to leave toxins hanging around and there was a full-on neurotoxin shindig happening in my head. I did take my 11 year old to his basketball game in the morning. After that; asleep, for the entire day!
When I woke up in the dark, home alone (so much for going to that fundraiser with my family), I couldn’t get some lemon water and a large green drink in fast enough. This was followed by a spinach, quinoa, chickpea salad that I hurriedly sauteed up, coated heavily in paprika (paprika?) and sea salt which wasn’t too shabby either. In fact, I was satisfied on every level. Despite my bleary eyed condition, my insides were grinning from ear to ear.
The point? My body obviously needed the nutrients and energetic qualities in these specific foods to help bring me back to a more balanced, less toxic, state. When you observe this happening on a regular basis it is very cool!
Can you think of a time when a food that you craved was exactly what your body needed? We all experience this every day but often don’t tune into the messages we are getting. Sometimes its the other way around and we have a dislike for what our bodies don’t want. Post-virus, who wants a heavy meal or alcohol? Cold food and drinks don’t appeal to me when its chilly out because I need to warm up. Its all the same thing really.
So pay attention. And know that when you have eaten something that feels like it was just what you needed, it most likely was.
All the best,
